Once you start reading, you don't want to put it down! The main character, Cyrillus is so intriguing. He is introduced in such a way that you really want to take a peek into his wonder world. So you are hooked! And you forget this is fiction. You start taking in the ups and downs of the wild and carefree adventures in Italy. Breathtaking. Your eyes are captured by the cobblestone streets, the beautiful piazzas, so inspirational. Then you meet new friends and people who make you feel like family. You collect music, delightful Italian tracks. You get to enjoy the hospitality, the simple pleasures of good company, farm life, and oh the food, fine Italian cooking! I love different kinds of food so wow! You taste the leisurely cappuccino, the pastries, um yum.This book is a page turner! If you have never visited Italy like me guess where your next stop will be? An enjoyable little gem of a book! I love armchair travel and one of the places I have always wanted to go is Italy. The author sounds as if he has been to Italy and his writing gives and intimate view of what it would be like to travel through working on farms and wineries while the main character Cyrillus learns about life.
Great Read! Can't wait to see what this author publishes next!
Wow! Kyle De Luca does an incredible job capturing the story! This is so well written and such an adventure!! Enjoyed every bit!
All of this book has amazing description, as if you are on the shoulders of the character. You see, as if on his shoulders, everything the character sees, everything that happens, but it doesn't seem personal. It's halfway through the book before and verbiage happens.
I loved this character! I think everyone can relate to wanting something beyond their normal life...an adventure. Cyrillus actually takes the plunge and exchanges his life for the one he really wants. I loved his saga across Italy, the families he met and the peace he felt each morning. We should all have the courage to live the life we really want. I can't wait for the next installment in this series.
Enjoyed the story, but especially the writing style. I loved it from the first paragraph, where the writer introduced his "hero" Cyrillus Severus, who "prefers to be called by his full name, unless of course you wish to unleash a severe tongue lashing upon yourself."
Great short story to escape into from a busy life. It was captivating, peculiar and fun. Can't wait for the next one.
A wonderful story of a young man who seeks to find himself and along the way discovers the secrets of what can make a life truly joyous. Cyrillus learns what great treasures one can experience if opening yourself to what life has to offer. His eyes and heart open to appreciate all that is around him – the generous people he meets along his travels who welcome him into their family life, and the true wonders of how truly brilliant nature and foreign cities can be. The author invites you along to Cyrillus’ journey from being mostly disconnected in his gray world to being a participant and finally a compassionate giver with an open heart in a world full of life and color. I hope to see more of Cyrillus’ journey as he continues his metamorphosis into a better person.
I enjoyed how the author paints an eloquent canvas of sensory journeys with his gifted words. “The plane lifted itself through the clouds …” “…that city of yesterday’s vast empire.” “[M]ade a habit of greeting the sunrise every day, and eventually thought that the sun even started greeting him right back.” “A man essential to the fabric of the natural world.” Kyle’s gift for language is a delight in our world overwhelmed by social media’s abbreviations overflow.
